I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. What do you think, is it true for you? We want to study hard, get up early but we end up doing the opposite, think of your own habits and tendencies – we try to change but end up doing the same things that we hate. The Bible describes this condition as sin and Easter makes sense when we begin to understand it’s effect upon us.
Sin, it is like a sickness and quite infectious too. Even a slight sickness can keep us away from others and get on our nerves as well. Similarly sin keeps us away from God, in-fact we tend to rebel against him even though all He wants to do is help.
Jesus comes as a cure. Sickness can be cured by medicine but what happens to the medicine – it perishes. Similarly Jesus – i.e. God Himself, came to us in human form and cured us of this sickness called sin by dying in our place.
We were supposed to die to pay for our sins but he died in our place. He freed us from this slavery to sin. He had to give his life away to win back your and my life.
How can we be so sure?
We can be sure because he rose again! In a battle the last man standing is often the victor, similarly Jesus’ resurrection proves to us his supremacy and authority over all things including death. His resurrection is the greatest validation of the claims made about him.
One of the most common Claim made about Jesus Christ
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:16-17 (NIV)
Believe! What happens when you believe?
A new relationship starts. God starts working in and through you, helping you to be the one He wants you to be. We start to experience Him changing us from within radically. He becomes the source of our Hope, Joy, Love and Peace. We become agents of change in this World.
Thus we celebrate Easter because in this conflict ridden and hurting world, Jesus’ way of love continue to show us the path to a victory that lasts but all of this comes to a screeching halt if resurrection never happened.
The entire Christian faith hinges upon the resurrection of Jesus Christ, if it did not happen then it’s the greatest lie ever told. Interestingly some of the brightest minds including Robert Boyle, Blaise Pascal and etc consider resurrection not merely as an abstract philosophical concept but rather as a literal and physical reality. Here below are given are links to articles that give evidence for such a belief.
